Roberta (Bobbi) McDonough (Thompson) Jachym

Westmoreland- Roberta M. Jachym passed away at the Siegenthaler Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born in New York City to Bernard and Virginia Allen McDonough but was raised from birth by Warren and Evelyn Thompson of Westmoreland. She was a graduate of Westmoreland Central Schools and Utica College of Syracuse University. Retired from Faxton St. Lukes Healthcare.

Bobbi’s happiest hours were spent in her perennial garden, with her friends both human and animal. Her backyard has been declared a Wildlife Habitat through criteria outlined by the National Wildlife Federation. She enjoyed traveling with her husband which included cruising to many Caribbean ports over the years. College basketball season was a favorite time of year, especially if the Syracuse Orange were winning. Her participation in her monthly book group brought many spirited discussions and points of view. Her support of environmental and progressive causes gave her great pleasure.

Roberta leaves behind her loving husband Barney, daughters Jennifer Jachym and Amanda Jachym Schneebeck, stepdaughter Robin Jachym Zito, son-in-law Casey Schneebeck, grandchildren Elliot and Evelyn Schneebeck, and step grandchildren Garrett and Gunnar Zito; sisters, Florence (James) Pick and Teresa (Ralph) Bastion, dear friends and confidants Chris Reister, Gail Gorcynski, Pat Sterling, Mary Alice Hebert, and Marge Gorecki; many cousins, nieces and nephews and last but not least her  furry feline companions Pepper, Sweetie, Meg, and Junior. They were always ready to cuddle and provide companionship. She was predeceased by her foster sisters Alice Morris and Elizabeth Pick.

Thanks to Dr. Manzural Sikder of S.D.M.G. for his compassionate and caring treatment. He truly extended quality time with family and friends. Also, thanks to the staff at S.D.M.G. including staff in their infusion room, the staff at Faxton Outpatient Infusion, and staff at Visiting Nurses of Oneida County.
