Obituary of Joan M Hutchison
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan M. Hutchison, 86 of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at home with her family by her side.
Joan was born on August 5, 1929 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude Curtis. Joan grew up in Norwich, NY, graduating high school in 1947. During her high school years she worked in the Adirondacks on Seventh Lake. After high school Joan went to Nursing School at Strong Memorial Hospital and became an RN.
On September 30, 1950, Joan was united in marriage to Robert W. Hutchison in Norwich, a blessed union of 65 years. After moving to Clinton, Joan began working at the Lutheran Home before becoming the school nurse at Clinton Elementary School. She was especially proud of her profession as a nurse and being able to touch the lives of many children.
During her time in Clinton, besides her top priority of raising a family, Joan enjoyed reading, music, flowers, volunteering and cooking- sometimes for 40 hungry football players. But most of all Joan enjoyed taking care of her family and the gatherings during the holidays. Joan's trips with Hutch to Cape Cod and North Myrtle Beach were especially enjoyable.
Mom, Gramma, Great Gramma, Starsky: Joan being an only child always wanted to have a large family, and that she did raising 6 children. Her family truly was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband Robert; four daughters, Kathleen Putney of Deansboro, Ellen and Leigh Golden of Truckee, CA, Mary Christeler of Deansboro, Anne and Ralph Johnson of Mansfield, TX; two sons, Michael Hutchison of Clinton and Robert Hutchison of Clinton; grandchildren, Heather and Jocelyn Woodruff, Mandy Putney and Christy Putney, Erik Golden, Will and Stefany Hutchison, Rachel Hutchison and Joseph Vega, Rob Hutchison; Crystal and Shane Laliberte and Kendal Christeler; great-grandchildren, Celia, Tessa and Greta Woodruff, Sequoia Putney; Iziah and Phoenix Putney Daily, Emily and Owen Hutchison, Javian and Olivia Hutchison Vega, Ryan and Bennett Laliberte.
The family wishes to thank Father Croghan, all the wonderful nurses at St. Elizabeth's on 2E, Dr. Kandiah, who took such good care of her for years, his nurse Alicia, Hospice and Kunkel Ambulance; also, special friends Anne Hameline, the Mogle's and the Klausner's.
