Catherine Laverne Cunningham, 96, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 4, 2013.
She was born at home on November 22, 1917, in High Market, NY, daughter of the late James and Mary Klosner. Growing up on the largest, self-sustained dairy farm in the area, she was very proud of her family's farming tradition and always had a great love for horses. She married Thomas G. Cunningham on August 9, 1952 in Utica; the couple spent 30 wonderful years together before Thomas' passing in 1982. She was a devout catholic, who attended St. Thomas Church. Above all, Laverne's biggest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her three daughters and one son, Kathy and Ronald Baron of Clinton, Mary and David Allen of Chittenango, David and Marie Cunningham of Holly Springs, NC, and Jeanne Snyder of Clinton; Grandchildren, Amy and Jason Burgdoff, Mathew Baron, Todd Baron, Neal Baron, Daniel and Rebecca Allen, Kate Allen, Scott Cunningham, Teresa and Steven Carter, Michael Cunningham, Nicholas Snyder, and Christopher Snyder; great-grandchildren, Caleb Allen and Chelsey Burgdoff; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by two brothers and a sister, James and Lawrence Klosner, and Irene Klosner and a son-in-law, Bruce Snyder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 9, 2013 at 9:30am at St. Mary's Church in Clinton with interment following at Forest Hill Cemetery. All are invited to call Sunday from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton.
