Obituary of Jean E. Klis
Jean E Klis, 87, of Clinton, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Born in Vernon, NY on December 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Constance (Christensen) Burdick. Jean was united in marriage to Henry R. Klis on May 29, 1964, the two shared a blessed union until his passing in 2017. Together Jean and Henry owned and operated Elpines Restaurant in Rome, NY. Although motherhood was always Jean's most important role, she was an integral part of operating their business.
Jean was a dedicated wife and mother; family was always her priority. She was always involved with her family’s lives and interests, whether it was hunting with her husband and fishing with her parents and son or being the cheerleader for her grandchildren and their various school events; Jean was always present and always proud of their accomplishments. Jean enjoyed being a softball coach and there are many kids who have a better arm thanks to Jean! Jean had a gift for gardening and always had the most beautiful flower gardens around. She was a friend to all and enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them come to her feeders along with the many woodland friends that came to visit her.
Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Monica Klis of Westmoreland; and her three beloved grandchildren, Jacob Landry, Hunter Klis, and Dillon Klis. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Klis; sister Dorcas Roberts; and her parents Harvey and Constance Burdick.
Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 5-7PM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7pm. A private burial will be held for the family.
