Obituary of Effie May Spencer

Effie M. Spencer, 94, of New York Mills/Westmoreland, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Lutheran Care Adult Home surrounded by her loving family. Effie was born on May 5, 1919, a Daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Paul and lived in New York Mills for many years. On December 31, 1940 she married Robert W. Spencer in New York Mills. Together they owned and operated Hillside Dairy in Richfield Springs for over 20 years. Robert passed on March 26, 1982. Effie had a love and talent for crocheting. She was an avid listener of Christian Radio and Rush Limbaugh. Effie enjoyed music and was blessed with a beautiful alto voice. She was also a lifelong member of Walcott Memorial Presbyterian Church. She is survived by nieces and nephews who completed her life. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lester, Stephen and Elmer; and twin sisters Margaret Eccleston and Marion Martin. Funeral services will be held at 5pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College Street, Clinton. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3-5pm at the funeral home. Her burial will be held the following day on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 12pm at Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Route 29, Salisbury, NY. At the family's request, donations can be made to the Lutheran Homes Foundation, 108 Utica Rd., Clinton, NY 13323 and Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413, in recognition of their excellent and compassionate care.
