Obituary of Michael Andrew Dougherty

Michael Andrew Dougherty, 72, of Clinton, passed away at home on November 15, 2019, surrounded by his family. 

He was born in Utica on May 24, 1947, a son of the late Kenneth and June (Barnes) Dougherty.  Michael graduated from Clinton Central School in 1965.  On June 18, 1966, he married Mary Ann O’Dell. 

He took an interest in many subjects, studying electronics, criminal justice, mental health, forensic unit training, and massage.  Michael worked as a security officer for the casinos and different state facilities around the country.  He was also SCUBA diving instructor for many years. 

Michael was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a lifetime member of the NRA, the Single Action Shooting Society, Bar-20 Inc., Sons of the American Revolution, and the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters, Shelley Marie LaFayette and Shari Monique Manwarren; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Cathleen Dougherty; his brother, Patrick Dougherty; his half-sisters, Colleen Dougherty and Patricia Dougherty;  half-brother, Kevin Dougherty; and many nieces and nephews. 

Private services were held for the family.
